Joan Jiménez-Salcedo is Professor at the Department of Iberian and Ibero-American Studies at the University of Mons, Belgium. Previously, he worked in the Department of Translation and Philology at the Pablo d'Olavide University in Seville, Spain, where he also co-directs the Research Seminar on Gender and Cultural Studies. He holds a PhD in Humanities from the Université François Rabelais de Tours (France) and a PhD in French Philology from the Universitat del País Basc (Spain).

He was a professor at the University of France-Comté, France, between 2005 and 2007. In 2009 he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Ethnic Studies at the University of Montreal, Canada, and in 2017 he was a visiting professor at the University of Mons, Belgium. His recent research interests focus on the fields of interpretation in public services (mainly in courts), language policies in Canada and Catalan-speaking territories, French-Catalan and French-Spanish legal translation, and legal and administrative writing in these languages.
